Washington High School Baby Shower Report (by Julie Chipman)

MCC family thank you for your generous support of gifts and prayer for the Washington High School baby shower! This morning Julia Anderson, Karen Gutsch, Mary Whited and I  (Julie C) delivered the gifts at the school. We were warmly greeted by the school social worker and enjoyed getting to visit with both her and the parents as teachers representative as we set up.

These ladies were so overwhelmed with gratitude by what we were able to provide for the girls. In our conversation we learned that one young lady delivered her baby last Monday, at 28 weeks and by c-section. Baby is at a local NICU and mom was at school today. I learned that this young woman has limited family support, the parents as teacher representative, along with the school social worker, being her greatest advocates right now. I expressed to her our desire to not let this shower be the end of our interaction with these ladies, and if there’s any way we as a church could minister to any of these young women, please let us know.

The shower was a surprise for the girls, and we were able to watch the girls’ expressions of pure joy as they saw what was provided for them. As we left the building, we spent a few minutes praying for these girls, the women we met, and the school. Let’s all continue to pray for these girls, for the baby already born, and for future opportunities to share the love of Jesus with them.
