What did you hear this Year?

Though a steady diet of expository sermons each week is not enough to sustain us, it provides a framework for all other spiritual growth with the church. In a year like 2020, we might feel like we did not grow much. I thought it might be helpful for you to see what you heard from the Word this year.

Below is a list of what was preached in our series’ in 1-2 Chronicles and 1-2 Peter, as well as topical messages we heard throughout the year. We had the joy of hearing many voices speak the Word to us. I have listed in parentheses the names of those who joined me in preaching this year. These men have expressed their gratitude for you giving them a chance to exercise their gifts within the body and I want to pass that along here. We all rejoice in your listening ears and teachable hearts.

And looking ahead to 2021, we will finish our series in 2 Chronicles just before Easter. After Easter, we will begin a series in Galatians. In the fall, we will begin a series in Daniel and then in the summer of 2022 launch a series in Revelation. Along the way, other elders and interns will join in the preaching rotation; some are already scheduled, as you will see in the January-May schedule below.

Finally, I want to exhort you to diligently prepare for worship each Sunday. There are only 52 Sundays each year! Each Saturday night, read the passage that will be preached on Sunday. Pray for the Chorale and the preacher; pray for Master’s Kids and Equipping Hour teachers. Be silent for sixty seconds and let the Lord minister to you. You will get more out of Sundays if you prepare on Saturday night.
