God, the Father, prunes and purifies those that belong to HIM in order that they may produce fruit for Christ. (verses 1-4)  This power to produce great fruit comes from Jesus himself.  Also, in contrast, those who do not belong to the father and do not produce fruit are removed and disposed.(5-8)  Therefore take heed to bear fruit by loving each other and Jesus with all your being.  Obey his commands, sacrificially give and live for one another, support one another, for HE loves you and will empower you to produce much fruit for HIS Glory. (9-17)
