My name is Jim Viens. My wife, Kim, and I have been members of The Masters Community Church since the 2002. I was recently named our elder over discipleship ministries. I’ve always had a great love for teaching and making the truths of God’s word understandable for everyone.

I grew up right here in Kansas City, KS and graduated from Sumner Academy in 1988. I attended Kansas State University as an engineering major but moved back home after my sophomore year. I met my wife, Kim, when I was working night receiving at Walmart. She was instrumental in my coming to Christ in July of 1993 and we were married in November of 1995. We went on to have 6 kids that we’ve homeschooled. We love hosting people at our home and sharing our time with others.

I began to recognize my interest in, and love of, teaching at a previous church we attended. I began teaching adult classes and received a lot of positive feedback. As I continued to study theology, worldview, and apologetics I found that I could break the more difficult concepts down to a more understandable level so that the members of my classes could comprehend and apply the principles in their own lives. I went on to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies and Organizational Leadership at Calvary Bible College in 2004. In May of 2021, the elders of MCC asked me to be the primary leader of discipleship ministries and I humbly accepted. It’s been a privilege to see how God has used this ministry in The MCC to grow the body in the grace and knowledge of the Lord.
